Kesra offers an unforgettable excursion, from the natural and historical point of view. Built on the edge of a rocky plateau, at an altitude of more than 1000 meters, the village of Kesra is the highest Berber village in Tunisia. The natural fortress offered by this plateau with its steep edges, its strategic altitude position overlooking the surrounding plains and the presence of several water sources, have made it a strategic point for the civilizations that have succeeded in the region. In this village, the past and the present intertwine. In fact, the new constructions include either ruins, some of which have an immense archaeological value, or elements of the rocky landscape to use as an integral part of their constructions. The historic building that dominates the village is the "kasba" located right next to Kesra's Traditional Heritage Museum. The museum building is none other than the rest of a Byzantine fortress.

12H00: We take the road to Kesra / Makther
Makthar is a Tunisian city located in the center-west of Tunisia. This Tunisian city covers an area of 522 hectares with a green area of 30 hectares. It has a familiar park called "Sanit el Mohandes", three gardens (garden November 7, Garden Avenue Farhat Hached and Garden Martyrs) and a 4-hectare industrial area closing two industrial units. Makthar is famous for its small museum built in 1967 and located in its archaeological site. It is a simple museum divided into three sections decorated with a garden outside and vestiges of a basilica on the outside. It contains a collection representative of the history of Tunisia since the Punico-numid era until the end of antiquity. This museum has Punic and neo-Punic elements (Punic and neo-Punic votive offerings and funerary steles, sometimes with Libyan, Punic and Neopunic inscriptions). It also has Roman elements (architectural elements, pagan mosaics) and early Christian and Byzantine elements (Christian mosaics, the remains of the basilica, copies of epitaphs). In addition, the Tunisian city Makthar seduces tourists with its cherry festival best known for its folklore shows with the addition of parades of traditional clothes and symbolic floats, equestrian games as well as performances of fanfare troops and cheerleaders .
